Outbuilding, now house. Late C16. Timber-framed and ashlared render with plain tile gabled roof; rear wall is of black weatherboarding with tall stack. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-window range. North-west front has 2-storey gabled porch; 1st floor has two 12-pane horizontal-sliding casements with moulded surrounds and a 9-pane, casement to porch front. Ground floor has 2 horizontal-sliding casements as above, and two 8-pane top-hung windows in moulded surrounds. The porch has boarded C20 door and C20 plain casements in flanks. South-west flank has a single-light casement over a similar 2-light casement, both of C20. Old well immediately to rear of south-west flank has brick curbing. Building is linked on north-east flank to Holloway House (not included) of which it is an extension. INTERIOR: good quality timber-framed service outbuilding of 3 bays with rooms on ground and 1st floor at south-west end. Other 2 bays formed large chambers with A-frame roof and long strip windows as at Rivenshall Farmhouse, Greenstead Green (qv). Jowled posts, curved wall bracing and contemporary floor with stop-chamfered spine beams and square joists. The central A-frame has solid knees below high collar and another at north-east end has short arch braces under collar. Remarkably complete building of unusual type.
