GV II
Pair of houses, forming part of terraced row; with attached verandah. c1826-30; altered. Painted stucco; slate roof with rendered chimneys to right and left (that of No.26 coupled with that of No.25). Double-depth plan, each house single-fronted, built as a halls-adjoining pair, with back extensions. 2 storeys, 2+2 windows; moulded gutter cornice. Continuous verandah of 2+2 unequal bays, with simple cast-iron columns and lead-clad roof. At ground floor each has a tall square-headed doorway (adjoining one another in the centre) with panelled door and plain overlight, and a large canted bay window with C20 glazing; at 1st floor No.27 has two rectangular windows with C20 glazing, and No.26 has a pair of canted flat-roofed oriels with sashed glazing and dentilled cornices. INTERIOR: not inspected. The pair adjoin Nos 24 and 25 to the right (qv) and No.28 to the left (qv). All the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, together with those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
