SJ3198SE MARINE CRESCENT 778-1/7/93 (North East side) 16/08/72 No.31 (Formerly Listed as: MARINE CRESCENT Nos.1-16 AND 16A-32 (Consecutive))

GV II

House, forming part of terraced row. c1826-30; altered. Painted stucco; slate roof with rendered chimney to left. Double-depth single-fronted plan, with back extension. 2 storeys, probably formerly 2 windows but altered to 3 by insertion of French windows at 1st floor. The facade is dominated by a very prominent 5-sided open bay with verandah at ground floor and balcony above, enclosing a canted bay window at ground floor with C20 French windows, and C20 French window at 1st floor flanked by sashed windows without glazing bars. This feature evidently replaced a verandah similar to that of No.30 to the right, for one standard of that type remains to the left. To the right a short linking flat roof protects a tall square-headed doorway with panelled door and plain overlight. INTERIOR: not inspected. Adjoins No.30 to right (qv) and No.32 to left (qv). All the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, together with those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
