GV II

House, forming part of terraced row; with attached verandah. c1826-30; altered. Painted stucco, slate roof with stuccoed chimney to left. Double-depth single-fronted plan with back extension. 2 storeys and 2 windows; moulded gutter cornice. 2-bay verandah with elaborate cast-iron open-work standards and matching frieze, scrolled brackets and lead-clad roof; a C20 half-glazed porch built under the right-hand end. The ground floor has a square-headed doorway (inside the porch to the right) with moulded architrave and panelled half-glazed door, and a large canted bay window with 4-pane sashed glazing; the 1st floor has a pair of canted oriel windows mostly sashed without glazing bars, and pagoda roofs with terracotta finials. INTERIOR: not inspected. Adjoins No.8 to the right (qv) and No.10 to the left (qv). All the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, together with those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
