SD3201 LITTLE CROSBY ROAD, Little Crosby 778-1/5/188 (East side) Gate piers and screen walls at Liverpool Lodge

GV II

Gate piers with attached screen walls. Probably early to mid C19. Sandstone ashlar with metal statuary. Rectangular piers, each with a screen wall approx. 10m long terminating at another pier. The central piers, approx. 5m high, each have channelled rustication terminating at a simple cornice, and a corniced top surmounted by rampant lion displaying a hammer. (Gates replaced with board doors.) The screen walls, approx. 4m high, are plain, with flat copings; and the terminal piers are similar to the others but finished with shallow pyramidal tops. Forms group with Liverpool Lodge (qv).
