GV II

Houses and shop. c1860. Brick with slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic. 3 bays. The left-hand bay (No.51) has glazing bar sash windows with brick flat arches, a gabled attic dormer, and a doorway to the left. The central bay has a timber shopfront, partly reconstructed in the C20, with cornice and side pilasters, and with a 3-panel door and overlight to the right of the shop window. At 1st floor level there is a C20 casement window, and the attic has a gabled dormer. The right-hand bay (No.55) has a white brick canted bay window on the ground floor with a painted lead roof. It has sashes without glazing bars and has a doorway to its left. On the 1st floor there is a glazing bar sash window and the attic has a gabled dormer with a horizontal sash with glazing bars. The doorcases to Nos 51 and 55 have brackets above pilasters and have moulded cornices. Above the 4-panel doors there are plain rectangular overlights. Continuous modillion gutter cornice. Chimneys to right of No 51 and No 55, in front of and behind ridge. INTERIOR: not inspected. No.51 is included on the list for the first time.
