GV II*

War memorial. Dated 1905. By GF Bodley. Contrasting stone with
slate commemorative panels. 2-stage octagonal column raised on
high stepped plinth and crowned with crocketed lantern. Plinth
is buttressed at each corner by monolithic block, one
incorporating dedication panel. Both stages of column are
supported by 1-stage buttresses with crocketed pinnacles,
upper ones tied back to lantern as flying buttresses. Lower
stage incorporates engraved panels framed in moulded mullions
and transoms: upper stage has standing military statuary
beneath crocketed ogee-arched canopies. Carved cornice with
gargoyles beneath lantern of paired trefoil-headed lights.
Octagonal finial.
