7/128 Uton Barton Farmhouse including rear terrace and railings to north
GV II
Large farmhouse. Probably C18 core, rebuilt circa 1850. Rubble with stucco front and ends; plastered brick chimney shafts; slate roof. Long 5-room building facing south including 3-axial stacks. 2 storeys. Regular 10-window front comprising tall wooden mullion and upper transom windows to ground floor and 2-light casements to first, all with large glass panes. Main door set right of centre, 6-panel door with overlight, panelled reveals, Tuscan doorcase with entablature. Service door towards left end, wooden eaves modillion cornice. Roof hipped each end and small bellframe attached to left stack. Irregular rear elevation of exposed rubble showing breaks and blockings from several alterations. The right-hand (western) end has been added to rest. Overall 6-window front of different size and including large stair window left of centre (behind front door) and a canted bay right of centre. To rear of house the terrace overlooking farm courtyard with iron railings and 4 flights of stone steps is included.
