2. Circa 1840 stucco terrace considerably altered but retaining the general character and of important group value. 3 storeys with later attics. No 20 as terminal feature, of 4 storeys, with slight projection with pilasters, capitals removed, dividing upper floors. Each house of 3 windows, separated by pilasters on upper floors only some of Corinthian capitals survive. Rusticated ground floors and basements. Frieze and moulded main cornice across whole terrace. Recessed sashes some glazing bars intact, round headed 1st floor of No 22. 1st floor balcony and some with 2nd floor balconies, iron anthemion pattern. Nos 24 to 27 (consec) have good iron trellis canopies to 1st and 2nd floors with tent roofs. Nos 25 and 26 Project slightly, Most of entrances altered but retaining semi-circular fanlights. The part of the Prince of Wales Hotel immediately adjoining No 29 was originally part of this terrace.
Nos 1 to 19 (consec), the Villa Esplanade Hotel, Nos 20 to 29 (consec) with the Esplanade Hotel, Belmont Road, and the Prince of Wales Hotel, Prince of Wales Terrace, all form a group.
