Cottage. C17. Plastered cob on rubble footings. Cob and rubble stacks, topped
with C19 brick, thatch roof. 2 room cottage with central cross passage and end
stacks. 2 storeys facing south-east. Balanced 4-window front. Door left of
centre with C20 gabled thatch porch on rustic timber posts. Most windows C19 and
C20 casements with glazing bars but small 2-light to right on first floor has oak
frame and chamfered mullion and contains small rectangular panes of leaded glass.
Roof is hipped to left, gable-ended to right. Inside the right room has chamfered
crossbeam with scroll stops and cob fireplace with lintel finished the same. Brick
oven inserted in C19. Plainer carpentry detail of left room suggests that end
added to existing one room cottage in C18. 2 halves divided by cob crosswall.
Roof not inspected but jointed crucks truss said to exist over right room.
