Wolseley Bridge Tea Rooms and associated buildings SK 02 SW 2/44 II
House, Now part tea rooms, with additions of farm buildings and former parish hall. C17, altered in later C18, with mid C19 rear range and late C19-early C20 hall. House. Painted. roughcast over brick with plain tiled roof. Projecting brick end stack to left; ridge stack to right of centre. Two storeys; three bays with two light casements on first floor and twelve pane glazing bar sash windows on ground floor to left. Small 1960's shop window to right on ground floor with glazed door to left. Panelled door with C18 pedimented door surround to right of centre; as this is below the stack it may show that the building was formerly of three-unit plan baffle entry type. There is a boarded door in the left-hand gable end. Hall block to right; red brick with plain tiled roof. Three window front; three doorways in right hand gable end. Continuous rear range of C19 date; two storeys, irregular fenestration. Lefthand is of agricultural derivation, probably a former stable with loft over. Interior: The front range shows evidence of former timber-framing, including parts of wall-plate and wall-post on first floor. Possible blocked doorway with timber arch on internal face of front wall. Inglenook fireplace on ground floor and heavy chamfered beams to ground floor ceilings. The former hall, now giftshop, is not of special interest.
