Rosemary Cottage GV II Pair of attached cottages. Probably C17, extended in C20. Timber- frame with plaster and painted brick panels. Thatched roof, hipped on left end. Brick axial and gable end stacks. PLAN: Pair of cottages, each probably having hall to right with fireplace and smaller unheated service room to left. Woodbine Cottage has single bay extension on left and small C20 wing at rear and Rosemary Cottage on right has large C20 extension on right-hand end. EXTERIOR: 1 storey and attic. Asymmetrical 5-window south front. Various C20 casements, attic casements in 2 wide eyebrows. 2 C20 gabled porches. 2-window C20 extension on right (E). At rear (N) C20 casements, smaller dormer in thatch, C20 single storey wing on right and C20 extension on left (E) end. INTERIOR: Rosemary Cottage: right and left-hand rooms now one, the right has chamfered axial beam with run-out stops and unchamfered joists and large brick fireplace with chamfered timber lintel with ogee stop at one end (soffit cut away) and C19 oven with iron door; smaller left part has roughly chamfered axial beam and later joists. Attic chambers; large exposed purlins set on back of principals of partition truss. Some old plank doors. Woodbine Cottage interior not inspected.
