Details
MARLBOROUGH COLLEGE l. 5407 Porter's Lodge SU 1868 5/121 II GV 2. 1876-7. Architect G E Street. Red brick. Pitched tile roof, with Gothic moulded coping at south end, hipped at north end to allow for curve in road. Brick chimneys with cornicing and arcuated panels. 2 storeys. Sashes with glazing bars and moulded brick jambs. Projecting eaves cornice with elaborate modillions. Projecting 2 storey porch crowned by steep gable with moulded coping, and ball finials and acroteria. 3 bay arcade starting under porch and running up to gatepipes, on brick piers with horizontal rustication, moulded ashalar impost blocks, and moulded brick voussoirs. C house, B House, The Museum Block, The Arcade, Tha Bradleian Building, The North Block, the Porter's Lodge, gates and railings, the Chapel, and A House form a group.
