House. Dated 1854. Rendered with brick right-hand lateral stacks and a slate hipped roof. PLAN: double-depth. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, attic and basement; 2-window range. A left-hand round-arched doorway has a moulded surround, door with 2 tall flush panels, and plate-glass fanlight; single round-arched ground-floor window has a moulded surround, plain surrounds to first-floor windows, and 6/6-pane sashes, a segmental-arched basement window, and a cambered head to single 3/6-pane top-hung casement. Overhanging eaves have paired brackets flanking upper windows. Raised first-floor panel inscribed SALCOMBE COTTAGE/ 1854. INTERIOR: contains a hall with round arch and rear side dogleg stair with stick balusters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached cast-iron railings to basement area and entrance steps.
