GV II
House. Early C19. Yellow stock brick with stone dressings, lateral stack and a slate hipped roof. STYLE: Italianate. PLAN: double-depth. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and basement; 3-window range. Overhanging eaves, windows set in shallow vertical recesses, and rubbed brick arches; steps up to a right-hand segmental-arched doorway in a matching recess with a plate-glass fanlight and segmental-arched canopy, and door with 8 raised panels, round-arched ground-floor windows and flat-headed first-floor windows, with 6/6-pane sashes. 2 small basement windows. INTERIOR: central stair with stick balusters, panelled shutters, and 6-panel doors; unusual late C19 decorative toilet. One of a group of similarly styled houses in Medway Road (qv).
