Lighthouse, disused. Datestone reads: "M W G/1763" (William Gregson, Mayor of Liverpool). For Liverpool Docks Committee. Brick (cavity brickwork). Tapering cylinder of 7 storeys. Segmental-headed windows to south-east and south-west, now blocked. Blocked rectangular aperture to north has plain balcony, probably altered. Segmental-headed entrance to south east has datestone above. Used for navigation with another lighthouse, now demolished. Operated until 1908, no machinery remaining. A relatively early example of a lighthouse.
