2. Dated 1873 (date stone laid by John Rober Hall, Charles Duncan? architect). A large warehouse block on corner site with Dundee Street. Six storeys stock brick with white Suffolk brick segmental window arches and banding at first and third floor impost levels. Corner rounded off. Dundee Street elevation, which bends with road line, retains substantial length of original deeply moulded brick cornice, cut back towards corner and facing High Street; parapet with stone coping. Eight bays to High Street and nine to Dundee Street. Segmental arched windows with small pane iron framed glazing, stone sills. One pair of full height ranks to High Street and 2 pairs to Dundee Street with white brick bull nosed reveals, small pane glazing to tongue and groove hatch doors. Cast iron panelled lintels as sole plates to hatch ranks and over ground floor windows below them. Office doors to both elevations with rusticated- verniculated surrounds and voussoirs, keystone to Dundee Street doorway. Lattice plate bridges at second and fifth floor levels across road to St John's Wharves 'A' and 'E' ware- houses. Interior has cast iron columns with flagged caps timber first floor but concrete beam upper floors. Linked to 'A' and 'E' Warehouses St Johs Wharves, Wapping High Street E1 (qv). Also has architectural interest, with its rounded corners, arched windows, and white brick bands. A particularly good warehouse of its period. It would also appear to make extremely early use of concrete beams.
