Details

REMPSTONE MELTON ROAD SK 52 SE (south side) 8/66 Rempstone Hall 13.10.66 II Country house now convent. Late C18 with later C19 alterations and extensions. Whitewashed red brick. Hipped slate roof. Single red brick stack to the left, 2 to the ridge. Modillion cornice. Balustraded parapet to all but the single bays third from the right and left which are also slightly set back. Set on a plinth. 2 storeys, 9 bays. The outer 2 bays on each side project, each has a first floor band with clasping pilasters to the first floors. Between these 2 wings is a 5 bay single storey loggia with plain entablature supported on 4 pairs of Ionic columns and Ionic responds. Inner central 3 bays each with single glazing bar sash with single blind recessed panel under. Either side are single doorways with glazing bar and panelled doors. The outer projecting wings each have 2 low glazing bar sashes. Above, 3 low glazing bar sashes with single blind panels over and moulded architraves alternate with 4 plain pilasters. Either side are single smaller similar sashes flanked by single Ionic pilasters which support single modillion pediments. The outer wings each with 2 similar larger sashes. To the rear are later alterations and extensions.
