SE 92 SW WINTERINGHAM ERMINE STREET (west side) 2/30 Outhouse and Screen Wall adjoining north-west angle of Winteringham Grange Farmhouse
GV II
Outhouse and Screen Wall. Late C18 - early C19 outhouse, for Carrington Estate; later C19 wall. Outhouse: coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings, colourwashed, with traces of incised pointing in imitation of ashlar; pantile roof. Screen wall in red brick with over-fired blue brick dressings. Outhouse square on plan. Single storey, single-bay. Front to south: central blind window panel with stucco flat arch and colour-washed plaster with glazing bars of 16-pane sliding sash in relief; small square hatch to left. Stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice. Hipped roof. Round-headed door to left return. Curved screen wall to right links angle of outhouse with rear angle of farmhouse: pointed-arch door with blue brick surround, moulded brick coping. Included for group value.
