WIDECOMBE-IN- SX 77 SW THE-MOOR 6/170 Hannaford Manor 23.8.55 - II

House. Dated 1904. Squared granite rubble with hipped slated roof having lead rolls to ridge and hips. Tall granite chimneys asymmetrically placed. Double-depth plan containing an open hall. 2 storeys. Tudor design with gabled projectsions and stone-mullioned windows, some with hood-moulds. The garden front has 2-storeyed gabaled porch to right of centre with lateral stack with off-sets to right and large stone-mullioned hall window to left. At left-hand end is a gabled projection. The porch doorway is moulded with flat head and hood-mould. Date 1904 is carved on left side of south-east entrance-porch. Interior contains a narrow open hall, with Tudor-style panelling, on south-east side. Service-wing in similar style to south-west. House originally occupied by the Bolitho family. Architect said to be E L Lutyens, but there is no evidence to support this and it is unlikely.
