8/134 Wickenlow Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse, C17, altered, now house. Coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, stone slate roof with a chimney at each end (just in front and just behind the ridge). Two-bay end baffle-entry plan with continuous rear outshut under catslide roof (continued over modern lean-to), modern lean-to at right end. Two storeys; doorway at right end has segmental-headed moulded surround; 2 windows each floor, those in the 1st bay both altered, those in 2nd bay original: at ground floor a 5-light double chamfered stone mullion window with a hoodmould; above 4 lights, with chamfered mullions. Left return wall altered, a large modern addition in course of construction at this end (1984). At the rear a low gabled dormer now breaks through the roof of the outshut in the 1st bay. Interior: housepart in 2nd bay has large inglenook with bressummer, and heckpost with billet-moulded head; all ceiling beams chamfered with cyma stop; timber framed partition to 1st bay.
