Details
TQ 55 41 SPELDHURST SPELDHURST HILL (north side), SPELDHURST 12/559 Bellingham Headstone approx 10m south of the porch of the Church of St Mary the Virgin GV II
Headstone. Dated 1711 in memory of John and Sarah Bellingham. Upright sandstone slab standing approx 400mm high with double curvilinear shaped head. Both heads are carved with figures, probably death with his scythe to left and God in the stars to right. Inscription in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering is in 2 columns. The left one records the death of Sarah Bellingham but the date is buried. The right column records the death of her husband John in 1711.
