Details

THORNTON DALE MALTONGATE SE 8383 (west side) 14/141 Wardill Bros GV II Two houses, now shop. Early C19 with C20 remodelling. Dressed sandstone with raised grooved quoins; pantile roof with brick stacks. 2-storey, 2-window front to left, and 2½-storey, 3-window front to right. Ground floor to both houses consists of C20 shop fronts with entrance to left of centre. 2-storey part has two 16-pane sashes with painted stone sills and flat, keyed arches to first floor. Cavetto moulded eaves course. To right, first-floor and attic centre window openings are blocked. Remaining windows are 16-pane sashes to first floor and low 8-pane sashes to attic. Painted stone sills to all openings and heavy painted lintels to first floor. Stepped eaves course. Coped gables and shaped kneelers to both ends and to centre. End and centre stacks.
