Details
ST4615 NORTON SUB HAMDON CP GREAT STREET (North side) 9/203 Boundary wall and gateway about 15 metres south of The Coach House - GV II Boundary wall and gateway. Circa 1800. Ham stone ashlar, cast iron gates. Walls have plain copings, having been heightened by 2 courses of tooled stone with curved drops at each end; central gateway with square piers having plain plinths, thin frieze bands and plain caps with bell-hipped tops. Gates of Regency pattern with diamond interlacing to bottom rail, circular ornament to middle rail and segmental arched top rails without spikes: the whole contributing both to the general streetscene and to the setting of the Coach House (q.v).
