Details

ASHOVER SK3462 BUTTS ROAD 1264-0/12/13 (South side) 31/01/67 No.2 (Formerly Listed as: BUTTS ROAD House adjoining the Red Lion Inn) GV II House, formerly house and cottage. C17, with remodelling and alterations in C18, and with C20 alterations. Coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, quoins, coped east gable with moulded kneeler, rendered gable stacks, and a plain tiled roof. North elevation of 2 storeys and attics, 3 bays with off-centre doorway with massive surround and lintel below a shallow bracketed canopy. C20 glazed door. To the west, a C20 garage door beneath a boarded steel lintel. To the east are stacked 2-light mullioned windows, those to the ground and first floor of C18 date with flush mullions and surrounds, that to the attic floor a shallow 2-light chamfered mullioned window. The pattern is matched above the garage door at first floor and attic floor levels. At the junction of the second and third bays, a former quoined end marks the addition of the third bay, with a doorway with a quoined surround, now blocked to form a window, and stacked 2-light flush mullioned windows to ground and first floors. All window openings with C20 undivided casements and louvred shutters.
