Details
EAGLING ROAD E3 1. 4431 (West Side) The Children' House (Nursery School) TQ 3782 12/907 II 2. Circa 1923. Architect C A Voysey. Corner position. Red brick with stucco plinth. Wide stucco band and eaves cornice above 1st floor and wide bracketed eaves. 3 storeys, 5 windows with end bay slightly recessed. Windows decrease in size from very large ground floor sashes with glazing bars to similar, but smaller, 1st floor windows. Above, very small casements each of 3 lights with glazing bars, forming a narrow window band under wide bracketed eaves cornice. Ground floor windows with moulded stucco architraves, those of 1st floor with louvred shutters. Door with moulded stucco architrave, fanlight and small flat hood. Above fanlight bas relief enamelled mural of Virgin and Child with 2 children, with a border of flowets and fruit. Facade to Bruce Road has 3 windows, 3 storeys at corner only. Remainder of building finishes in a brick parapet which encloses a roof top play area. Door in wall adjoining to west also forms part of the design.
