HORSFORTH SCOTLAND LANE SE 24 SW LS18 (east side, off) 5/145 Dean Grange Farmhouse - and attached barn. - II

Farmhouse and attached barn. Mid to later C18. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, stone slate roofs, House: double-depth 4-room plan; two storeys, and 3 bays, almost symmetrical; doorway offset left of centre, with plain surround, protected by small modern porch; a vertical rectangular window on each floor to left (glazing altered), a 3-light window on each floor to right, with flat-faced flush-mullions and plain surrounds; another window at 1st floor above the door concealed by creeper. Gable chimneys and gable copings. Rear: tall cross-window stairlight, a 2-light window at ground floor to left, and a 3-light window above.

Barn attached at right-angles to right-hand side of rear of house, a long range with segmental-headed wagon entrance to 2nd bay, blocked, with an inserted doorway, and now covered by a lean-to garage (which is not included in the item); further to rear, a stable door flanked by square windows, a square loading door above the 2nd of these.
