4/9 (south side,off) Barn at Old House Farm

Barn. Probably early C18, reusing some earlier timbers. Timber frame with weatherboard cladding; on plinth of malmstone rubble with brick quoins and top course, rebuilt in brick to front right; right return has brick in header bond above plinth, and galleted malmstone at rear. Hipped plain tile roof. Fully-aisled barn of 5 bays with lower ground level on right and opposing central cart- entries, that at front rising through eaves under hipped gable. Front has board hatch on right, inserted stable door on left. Stable door inserted in right return.

Interior: good quality, complete, timber frame has sharply-jowled arcade posts on timber pads and brick piers with straight braces to arcade plates and tie-beams; wall studs from vertical panels (there are no rails); roof has raking queen posts supporting clasped purlins, old rafters, no ridge piece. Central threshing floor.
