6/334 Oasthouse about 40m south west of Putlands Farmhouse

Oasthouse. Probably mid C19. Stowage brick to the ground floor, weatherboarded above; slate roof. Brick kiln with peg-tile roof.

Plan: Sited fronting on to the road and forming a symmetrical group with the small yard to the north with the farmhouse set back between them. Rectangular stowage, cylindrical kiln adjoining at the east.

Exterior: The west side of the stowage has 2 first floor windows with segmental arched heads, one blocked, the other with slats. Small loft doorway to the right, high under the eaves. The left (north) return has a 2-leaf plank door with strap hinges and a 2-leaf plank loft door above. Kiln with a conical roof, cowl missing.

Forms part of an attractive roadside farmstead group.
