In the entry for: GOLBORNE LIGHTSHAW LANE SJ 69 NW (north side) 5/15 Lightshaw Hall 15/11/66 II the Grade shall be amended to read Grade II* (star).

------------------------------------

GOLBORNE LIGHTSHAW LANE SJ 69 NW (north side) 5/15 Lightshaw Hall 15/11/66 II Farmhouse. C16 timber-framed structure largely rebuilt in the C18 and C19. English garden wall bond and Flemish bond brick with graduated stone slate roof. Tall 2-storey range which takes the form of the earlier timber-framed building and has a lower 2-storey wing added to front right at a later date. The brick of the main range is of C17 to C19 but largely of the early C19 which is when the door and window openings date from. Bay 1 has 2 blind openings with flat brick arches. Bay 2 has a replaced casement on the ground floor and 3-light casement with timber mullions and glazing bars on the first floor. Both have stone sills and flat brick arches. Door adjacent to wing which has 2, 3 and 4 light casement windows with cambered and flat brick arches. Two 3-light casements (as above) to left gable-end. Horizontally sliding sashes to right return. The timber frame is only visible externally in the wall plate and in 2 posts at the rear. Ridge chimney stack. Interior is said to contain 2 Gothic-moulded beams, one on principal posts which extend through the first floor to support roof trusses with braced and cusped members. The full extent of the framing is unknown but is no doubt an important early survival. Moated site.
