ARTHINGTON ARTHINGTON LANE SE 24 SE LS21 (south side) 6/82 Grange Farm House - GV II

Farmhouse, now house. Mid to later C18, with C19 addition; altered. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, stone slate roof. Three-unit front range, with 2-unit lean-to addition to rear. Three storeys and 4 bays; doorway offset left of centre, with plain surround; 3 tripartite sashes at ground floor, 4 sashes at 1st floor (of varied widths) and 3 at 2nd floor, all these windows with glazing bars and plain surrounds. Ridge chimney and gable chimneys; gable copings with kneelers. Rear addition has some horizontal sliding sashes, and rear-wall chimney; running up the east side wall of this addition an exceptionally high flight of external steps to 2nd floor doorway in the main range.

Interior: mostly altered, but remains of one window with diamond lattice glazing in former rear wall.
