2. Early C19 house and shop at the corner of West Street and Mermaid Street. 3 storeys. 2 windows facing east. Ground floor painted brick, stuccoed above. Eaves cornice. Ripped tiled roof made in 2 sections. The doorway of the shop is in the rounded corner of the building. It has a fluted frame with a flat hood curved to follow the curve of the corner, curved double doors (of which the top halves have been glazed) and a curved rectangular fanlight above. On each side of the door is a small curved shop window in a fluted frame with a cornice over The glazing bars are missing in these shop windows but they are intact in the windows of the house. There are no other windows besides the shop window in the front facing south. On the east front is a matching doorway to the house in a fluted frame with a rectangular fanlight, flat hood over and 6-panel door.
Nos 1 & 2, Norman House, The Tower House, Lamb House, Nos 13 to 17 (consec) and No 1 Mermaid Street form a group.
