GV II

Terraces of 5 cottages. Probably an early C19 remodelling of an earlier building. Rendered stone rubble. Slate roof with gabled ends, left hand end over No 40 is at lower level. Red brick stack at right hand gable end, axail stack to left of centre and projecting lateral stacks at the rear.

Plan: A row of 5 one-room plan cottages, all of 3 storeys except for No 40 at the left end which is 2 storeys. Nos 40, 44 and 46 are heated from rear lateral stacks, No 42 has an axail stock and No 48 has a stack at the right hand gable end. It is possible that the terrace is a remodelling and heightening of an earlier range.

Exterior: 2 storeys 1-window range to left and 3 storey 4-window range to right. Early C19 2-light 16-pane casements, except for 3 to the right on the second floor which are later casements and the C19 3-light casement on the ground floor to the left. Nos 44, 46 and 48 have early C19 doors with readed flush lower panels and glazed above, Nos 40 and 42 have similar C20 glazed doors.

The rear elevation has projecting lateral stacks.

Interior: Only the ground floor of No 42 was inspected and no early features were exposed.
