Former row of two shops, back-to-back with a pair of weaver's cottages with textile warehouse/manufactory occupying the upper floors (now derelict and empty) C1790 with early 19th-century alteration and extension. Smooth faced sandstone of regular size and courses, stone slate roof. Three storeys. Three bay south front: first two bays original 1790's build of two storeys as defined by ashlar quions; raised another storey c1810 and another bay added - this breaks forward slightly and has quioned angle. First two bays have ground floor shop windows (blocked) with remains of 2-light two-pane sash set within applied box- frame on brackets. Set between is doorway (blocked) with monolithic lintel and tie-stone jambs. First floor has 2-light two-pane box-framed applied timber sashed windows with casement moulded cornices (in dilapidated condition). These are applied in front of original 2-light mullioned window with plain-stone surrounds. Upper floor has 2-light windows with plain-stone surrounds and slightly projecting sills (lacks glazing but probably sixteen-paned sashes originally - evidence, rear windows). Third bay, set forward, has doorway with tie-stone jambs, retains six-panelled door. Door-case has stone corbelled hood/platform for taking-in doorway set directly above (blocked) - this has tie-stone jambs and a quoined lintel. Ground floor full depth shop window (blocked) has stone lintel. Above to each floor 2-light flat-faced mullioned windows with plain-stone surrounds and projecting sills. Former stack to left gable and ridge-stock at division between second and third bays, removed c1990 (when doors and ground floor windows were blocked to make building safe and secure by order of Council).
Rear (north elevation): three second-floor windows. Early 19th century addition to left has doorway with monolithic jambs and similar sized wide doorway above as taking-in door. Right of door is 12-paned fixed light in plain-stone surrounds and doorway cutin with monolithic lintel at junction with quoins of earlier build. Upper floors have 2-light flat-faced mullioned window with thin plain-stone surrounds and slightly projecting sills lacking glazing but with the evidence for 24-paned glazing. To right earliest build has 3-light flat-faced mullioned with overlapping lintel and sills at first floor. Second floor has similar window to first bay. Widely spaced gutter brackets.
