GV II
Model farm buildings. Circa 1870 for Earl of Pembroke's Wilton Estate. Dressed limestone, Welsh slate roofs. E-plan group with open sides of yards facing south. West range with barns has double sliding doors, stable door and shuttered windows on east side; all with cambered heads, west side has fewer openings, south gable has 12-pane fixed window, roof has two louvred vents. Middle range now with C20 barn, formerly with open-fronted shelter shed, has free- standing dairy at south end with blocked openings, hipped roof and louvred vents. East range has cowsheds and stabling, east-facing side has two gabled loft doors with external stone and wooden steps, shuttered windows, segmental-arched planked door to right, ashlar stack with moulded capping to right, west side of range facing yard has five planked stable doors and shuttered windows, central gabled loft door, now with fixed window. North range has double-gabled open-fronted feed sheds facing yards with louvred vents, north side facing outwards has cartsheds and open-fronted storage bays for equipment and feed, central gable has group of three stepped round-arched lancets with keystones over double sliding doors, to right are double hinged doors. Interior has stone floors, planked doors and exposed queen-post roof trusses in north range. Together with the dovecote (q.v.) and farmhouse (q.v.), this is a good example of a relatively complete model farm.
