Cottage. Mid-late C17, extended in mid C20. Plastered cob on rubble footings; cob
stack with plastered brick chimney shaft; thatched roof. Gable-ended small cottage
facing north-east comprising small service room to left (south-east) and heated room
to right served by projecting end stack. 2 storeys. Balanced 2-window front of
late C19 - early C20 casements with glazing bars. 2 small inserted first floor
windows over central door and gabled, thatch-roofed porch.
Good interior. Main room cross beam is chamfered with scroll stops to rear but on
front has runout stops and thickens as it enters wall with ogee-moulded frame.
Stone fireplace has oak lintel with runout stops and brick oven on left side. To
right of fireplace small cupboard has pivotted fielded panel doors and contains a
shaped shelf. 3 bay roof of A-frame trusses with pegged lap-jointed collars.
Extension to right and studio to left are mid C20 extensions. A cottage containing
surprisingly high quality detail.
