SX 76 NE WOODLAND WOODLAND HAMLET

3/72 Linhay adjoining north of No 2 Higher Woodland Cottages -

GV II

Linhay abutting and at right angles to the north side of No 2 Higher Woodland Cottages, at the west end. Probably C18 or earlier. Stone (with a little cob on the wall-tops) and timber. Roof mostly asbestos - slated at the front, the rest having real slate; hipped at right-hand end. Originally open-fronted with 5 rough, square-section granite orthostats carrying the floor-beams, but these now partly concealed by boarding and breeze block. Good roof trusses with notched apexes, and collar-beams pegged to the faces of the principal rafters. At the front the feet of the principal rafters are pegged to cruck-like timbers.
