Yellowish-red brick in flemish bond with soldier-brick arches and eaves band; concrete. 2 storeys with basement garage. 2 bays with further narrow entrance bay on left; garage below right bay; 1st floor only to rear right with deep canopy in front and terrace to front and left side. On left, steps up to terrace; on right basement garage door. Lower entrance bay on left has door with thick, small-pane, glazing to left side and above, and concrete porch open at front and right side, the flat roof with curved corner. The 2 right-hand bays each have a tall sliding and folding 5-light window with overlight; iron railings in front of right window. Parapet with artificial stone coping fronts 1st- floor terrace. 1st floor accommodation, set-back behind curve- cornered concrete canopy, has glazed door and thick small pane, 5-light eaves glazing; chimney on left. Interior: designed with sliding folding partition walls to allow conversion of main rooms into a single large space, and with fitted furniture, some of it concealable. These original features survive and include: fitted wooden bookshelves and cupboards; fitted settee convertible to bed with retractable bedside tables; extensible fitted dining table with moveable light above; curved pull-out desk; marble surround to fireplace with retractable glass screen. The house and its fittings are a remarkable survival of a compact house reliant for its convenience on well-designed fitted furniture, and it is an unusual exemplar of the contemporary of "minimal living.
