Details

RECTORY LANE TQ 75 SW BARMING (South Side) 2/12 Oast House about 30 metres north of Beckets Place GV II Oast house. Late C18 or early C19. Kilns roughly-coursed ragstone. Stone rear wall to stowage; exposed posts to front with building-block infilling. Plain tile roofs. Low rectangular stowage of 7 short "bays", with 2 circular kilns to north end. Dentilled red and grey brick eaves cornice to kilns. Low eaves to stowage, and hipped roof to south end. Conical roofs to kilns. 2 hipped dormers to stowage, each with a 4-paned light. Loading door with rendered sides, rising from eaves, and with hipped roof over. One small rectangular brick-dressed opening to north side of each kiln. Interior: only partly inspected. Bevelled cross-beams with short straight braces, to stowage.
