1908-/9/10003 L-shaped range of farm outbuildings to the north-west of Bucks Head Farmhouse
II
Farm outbuildings comprising barns and former smithy. Mid to late C18 with C19 additions and alterations. Red brick laid to English garden wall bond rising from a plain plinth, and with plain gables and Staffordshire blue clay tile roof coverings. Irregular 'L' shaped group, with earliest range to south, running west to east, and attached later stepped range extending northwards from west end of earlier part. South range, south elevation; two storeys, three bays, with full-height double doorway with plank doors to centre bay, giving access to former threshing floor. Flanking doorway are two tiers of slit breathers, some now blocked. East gable with inserted doorway and louvred window, and taking-in doorway to left, all below brick segmentally arched heads. Tier of four slit breathers at storey level. Later attached barn of three bays, with lower two storey range to north end, and smithy extending westwards from lower two bay part. Barn with full height opening to centre bay beneath segmental arch, now concealed by C20 sliding door gear. North bay with four diamond shaped panels of ventilator brickwork. South bay with partially built upper area, with boarded inserted opening and small four pane fixed light to ground floor. Lower two storey part with external stack to centre of west side wall, with staggered windows to ground floor and overloft to north. Double doorway to centre of north gable, with taking-in door to overloft. Side wall of smithy, open fronted at west end, and with single smithy window. to east. Interior: earlier south barn with C18 tapered King post roof trusses supported on club walls flanking one threshing door. Trusses support a double purlin roof, with struts from King post and tie beam supporting upper and lower purlins respectively later barn with truncated principal collar trusses with straight lateral braces between tie beams and single purlins to centre bay. Trusses supported on Stub walls. Lower two storey range with single truncated principal collar truss with spur ties to wallplates. Smithy with hearth intact.
