2. Mid C19. Stuccoed. Painted stone dressings. Hipped tile roof. Rendered chimney. 2 storeys and attics. No 27 is The Swan Public House, of 5 window range. South range of 3 grouped double-hung sash windows with glazing bars on 1st floor, with plain reveals, a continuous moulded sill band supported on 4 consoles, and a vermiculated keystone in stucco over each light. Below this is another group of 3 double-hung sashes with glazing bars, all with semi-circular heads and a plain band round the embrasures: sill-band and keystones as in the windows above. All other ground and 1st floor windows are single-light double-hung sashes with glazing bars, plain reveals, moulded sills with 2 consoles, and vermiculated keystones. Doorway with horizontal rustication, cornice supported on extremely elaborate stucco consoles, deep plain reveals panelled double doors, oblong fanlight with glazing bars. Moulded stringcourse above ground floor. No 29 has mid C19 shop front on ground floor, with plate glass windows. 2 doors, one of which is 6 panelled, and both have square plate glass fanlights. Eclectic capitals at corners of shop front. 2 double-hung sash windows with no glazing bars on 1st floor, with vermiculated keystones and moulded sills supported on 2 consoles. Both No 27 and No 29 share 3 attic dormers with gables, tile-hung fronts, and double-hung sashes with glazing bars. South facade of No 27 has one 6-panelled door with oblong fanlight with glazing bars in plain reveal; vermiculated keystone over. 2 ranges of double-hung sashes with glazing bars; vermiculated keystones, and moulded sills on 2 consoles. 1 storey extension to west: pitched roof with gable at west end. 1 planked double door. 1 plain door with oblong fanlight; 2 double-hung sash windows with no glazing bars, plain keystones, and moulded sills on 2 consoles. West end of extension to No 27. Beach flint, clunch and random Pulborough stone. Red brick chaining and 2 stringcourses. Rounded corner to south. No openings.
Nos 27 to 33 (odd) and Nos 37 to 43 (odd) form a group.
