II Russell's Barn
Barn. Late C14. C19/C20 weatherboard over timber frame; corrugated iron
gambrel roof. 3-bay plan with central threshing floor. C20 twist access, C20
window and two large C20 glazed doors to south side, including one C20 door in
former entry. Interior: jowled aisle and arcade posts, with raking braces to
arcade posts; 3-way arch bracing from aisle posts to arcade plates and cambered
tie beams. Edge-halved scarf-joints with housed bridled abutments, and face
key. End wall frames have close-studded timbers and arch bracing to girths and
cill plate . C14 crown post roof has been removed. An unusually fine example
of a small C14 barn.
