WEM RURAL C.P. EDSTASTON SJ 53 SW 6/140 Yew Tree Farmhouse - - II

Shown on O.S. map as Yew Tree House. Farmhouse. C17, altered late C18, with later additions and alterations. Painted brick largely concealing or replacing timber frame; plain tile roof with crow-stepping to left gable end. 3-unit baffle-entry plan with half-length brick lean-to to rear. One storey and attic with dentilled eaves cornice. Late C19 casements with C18 segmental heads, one to left and 2 to right of 4-panel door under C19 open gabled porch with cast-iron columns; late C19 gabled eaves dormers directly above right windows. Reddish brown stack immediately behind ridge to left of entrance. Timber framed square panels exposed to right gable end, now concealed by attached C19 farmbuilding (not of special architectural interest). C19 single-storey brick lean-to to left gable end. Interior: chamfered spine beams and heavy joists to 2 main ground-floor rooms. Massive stack, stepped on first floor, with rebuilt inglenook fireplace to left ground-floor room; dog-leg staircase behind stack in right room. Single-purlin roof with straight windbraces and collar and tie beam exposed to first truss from left.
