Details
TQ 2780 NE and 2781 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER STANHOPE PLACE, 54/89 ;67/1 W2 10.4.75 Nos.ll to 15 (consec) G.V. II Terrace of houses. c.1840-45,probably to design by George Ledwell Taylor and matching Nos 1 to 5 opposite. Stucco, slate roofs. 4 storeys, including attic storey and basement. Each front 2 windows wide, that of No. 11 breaking forward in segmental bow, answering that of No. 5. Entrances to left of each front with projecting Greek Doric portico-porches. Recessed sash windows, those on 1st floor with cornices. Main entablature continuous over 2nd floors. Cast iron balcony across 1st floor. Cast iron spear head area railings. Part of Tyburnia, the post 1827 development of the Bishop of London's Estate planned by S.P. Cockerell, but laid out to modified plan by George Gutch. 'The History of Tyburnia', G.
