Mortuary Chapel of Abney Park Cemetery
II
Non-denominational chapel. Built by 1840 in picturesque Gothic style. Plain fortress-like south wing has angle towers and a blank first floor over entrance archway. North of this a porch bay leads to the chapel proper, an octagonal tower with spire having one-bay arms on other three sides and a tiny apse to the north. Grey brick with stone dressings. Lower windows mullioned and transomed, tower windows with Perpendicular-type tracery. Many tall gabled buttresses. Interior has pointed vaulting.
Included partly for landscape value.
