Details
1. STOKE NEWINGTON 5013 CHURCH STREET N16 (South Side) ----------------- Nos 81 & 83 TQ 3386 12/604 1.9.53. II* GV
2. Early-mid C18 pair, originally 3 storeys and basement: but upper storey added in C19 above frieze and cornice. No 81 3 windows, No 83 4, the right bay over a carriageway. Brown brick with red brick dressings. Ground floors and basements stuccoed with incised lined. Top parapet coping of red brick and stone. Replaced sash windows with glazing bars, those on 1st and 2nd floors under finely gauged shallow segmental brick arches. No 83 has lengthened 1st floor windows to early C19 cast iron balconies. Doors of 5 fielded panels, No 81 in handsome doorcase of panelled reveal, enriched eared architrave, frieze with garlands and mask and enriched cornice and pediment on carved consoles. No 83 has later Greek revival doorcase with panelled pilasters, garland and paterae frieze and mutule cornice. Curved wrought iron hand rails to flights of door steps.
Nos 75 to 93 (odd) form a group with the forecourt walls to No 91.
