Details
TQ 2980 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER SACKVILLE STREET W1 70/101 Nos 34 and 35 5.2.70 GV II Pair of terrace houses. c. 1732. Stucco faced, slate roofs. 4 storeys and basement. Each front 3 windows wide. No 34 has stucco architraved square headed doorway to right. No 35 has doorway to left in bold segmental arched architrave, the door recessed between Ionic columns supporting transom below fanlight. Recessed sashes, no glazing bars in architraves,with frieze and cornices on 1st floor. Parapet with coping. Cast iron area railings. The interior of No 34 has had alterations but retains enriched Doric pilasters to entrance passage opening into staircase compartment, the lower flights of stairs intact with finely carved cut strings and slender turned columnar balusters. Good late C18 plaster ceiling to 1st floor front room. No 35 interior altered but retaining similar entrance hall passage to that of No 29, with panelling,finely carved cut strings to stairs, but C20 balusters, panelled dado, arched stair lights, enriched curve to top of well; good doorcases, cornices etc, panelling to 2nd floor.
