TQ 2980 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER REGENT STREET Wl 70/89 (west side) Nos 169 to 201 (odd) 22.11.73 Triumph House GV II Block of offices and shops. c. 1908 by Frank Verity who only built the 2 pavilioned blocks, the remainder by T. S. Darbyshire c. 1921. Portland stone facing, slate roof. Beaux Arts Imperial classicism. 5 storeys and 2 storey attics. Symmetrical fenestration in rhythm 5:3:6:3:6:3:5. Granite faced ground floor with semicircular arched main entrances to offices but otherwise mid and later C20 shop fronts inserted, except for good marble and bronze framed shop front to No 201. Architraved metal casement windows to upper floors with 1st floor cornices and 2nd floor pediments; those in end pavilions and centre, with enriched cast iron surrounds and aprons, contained by giant enriched Ionic order rising through 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, carrying continuous entablature with the 4th floor windows in the frieze. Above pavilions and centre are stone framed, segmental pedimented dormers. The pavilion roofs are extended above ridge line in French manner with bronze acroteria cresting to ridge. Cast iron balconies to 1st floor. One bay splayed corners and 4 window returns to New Burlington Street and to Conduit Street with similar details.
