Detached house. Early C19, probably incorporating earlier work. Ham stone ashlar; hipped Welsh slate roof with central
brick chimney stack, wide eaves overhang. In a villa style. Two storeys, 3 bays x 2 bays. South entrance elevation at
right angles to road of 3 bays: plinth, band course, corner pilasters, bracketted eaves: 16-pane-sash windows set in
plain openings with slightly segmental-arched heads; to lower bay 2 an early C20 timber, glass and slate porch East
elevation 2 bays to match, then a long 2-storey extension of 4 bays northwards, with a double Roman clay-tiled roof set
lower, walls part ashlar, part cut and squared work; bay 1 has a cambered-arched doorway with C20 part-glazed door, and
above to right and to both levels bay 2 are small-pane casement windows: bay 3 and 4 wider, the former with a pair of
tall narrow stable-type doors, then bay 4 has wide double doors. Interior not seen. About 3 metres east of house along
the frontage and continued southwards, some 25m in all, a low stone wall surmounted by railings having alternate hoops
and cast arrowheads, about one metre high, with gate opposite the porch, and returns in stone walling at each end,
contributing to setting of house. Premises associated with Yandle and Sons Ltd. timber merchants, established here by
1906 (VCH, Vol III, 1974).
