GV II
Granary. Mid-late C18 by John Carr for Edwin Lascelles, 1st Lord Harewood. Punch-dressed stone, stone slate roof. 3 storeys. Single-bay main elevation, fronts lane: quoins, ashlar plinth, projecting 1st-floor band and moulded impost band. Large 1st-floor Venetian window (blind) set within semicircular-arched recess the voussoirs aligned to the courses; heavily modillioned cornice to oversailing eaves. Pyramidal roof topped by wooden lantern surmounted by weathervane. Rear: (farmyard) front: central 1st floor taking-in doorway with composite jambs and chamfered surround and projecting stone landing carried on a pair of giant modillions. Windows either side have ashlar lintels and projecting sills and retain 20-pane Yorkshire sashes. To left of door is metal crane. Above door, bullseye (open) to end floor. Right-hand return has 3 semicircular- arches (2 blind) with impost blocks carried on square piers.
Interior: ground floor has ceiling with stop-chamfered spine beams (softwood) and floor joists.
A fine building prominent within the farm complex.
